Jesse Jones, as chairman of the RFC, approved loans to the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad and then directed the railroad company to hire Wilson McCarthy as its president. The photograph, a gift to McCarthy and his wife, was signed, “for my friends Wilson and Minerva McCarthy with great affection.” As a director of the RFC, McCarthy approved millions of dollars of loans to the railroad company and then became its trustee and president. While a RFC director, McCarthy also approved loans to the Dawes bank and the Jones bank. (Courtesy, Utah State Historical Society)
